Seventh Annual Funk out with ROCK

About Funk out with R.O.C.K.

Funk out with R.O.C.K. is a major over-the-top social event featuring live, original funk music, silent auction, raffle and hundreds of San Franciscans. 100% of proceeds benefit San Francisco nonprofit Real Options for City Kids, or R.O.C.K. for short. The Master of the Funk competition is an innovative spin on the traditional host committee for major events. All Funk out with R.O.C.K. hosts, otherwise known as candidates, go head to head to raise the most revenue from online ticket sales and donations. The candidate with the most "votes" is declared the winner. To entice the public to purchase a ticket and/or donate under their name, all candidates were asked to dress in their funkiest attire and film themselves doing their funkiest of moves. A YouTube video was created and is displayed on the event website for the public to determine who they feel should be crowned the Master of the Funk.

About Real Options for City Kids

Real Options for City Kids, or R.O.C.K. for short, is a nonprofit youth development organization located in the heart of San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood. R.O.C.K. offers sports and fitness, community service, learning enrichment, leadership training and outdoor adventure programs for girls and boys ages 6 – 17 that live or attend school in Visitacion Valley. With low administrative costs, R.O.C.K. serves over 500 kids all year during the school day, after school, on weekends and over the summer.
